Flowers

They match! My wonderful boyfriend has the best taste in flowers - I think Allegra agrees!

It's a Girl!

Test results are in - my little baby is a girl...
and her name is Willow!

I chose this name because my all time favorite trees are weeping willows.. The coloring of the blue fronted amazon reminds me of a weeping willow scene - green grass, yellowish leaves - with a bright blue sky. I figured when she is able to mimic a cry, we can even call her weeping willow! lol corny.. :)!

I am so psyched though - they say male BFA tend to be a bit more aggressive in behavior compared to female BFA's. I can't wait to bring this little girl home!

Proud new mama

I would like to announce a new addition to my family of fids. I have purchased a baby blue fronted amazon, hatched on April 22nd. I researched online and found a reputable breeder located in Maryland - their site is here: Feathered Companions Aviary  - I have been working with Maranda Flamos and she has been great. Their facebook page provides updated pictures of all her babies often.

The baby is still being weaned and has about 6 to 8 weeks before it could come home with me. I am looking forward to the 5 hour drive down there!

The following pictures have been given to me by Maranda and are also located on the FB page.
I have yet to decide on a name, so please let me know of any suggestions! Thanks!

Update: The big move

Charlie and Allegra are adapting really well. Allegra more than Charlie. For some reason, he is still afraid of the blinds on the window. When I take him out, the window is near by and he leans his body away from it, while his pupils get really small! I think it is funny -- once he is out on top of the cage he is fine. They have been flying to me from their room while I am in the kitchen -- If I am cooking or people are over, I will leave them out of their cages but in their room with the door closed.

They are much quieter than they were in my old house. Since they don't have my alarm clock waking them up, and me getting ready all morning they get to sleep later. I come home and they are always excited to come out :) I miss them and look forward to getting some play time with them later!

New Home

It's official! Me, Charlie and Allegra have moved into our new home and we are loving every moment! The birds finally have their own room - and I can finally enjoy my sleep without them :) Having the cages on the first floor (compared to upstairs in my previous home) is so much easier too! I can roll them right outside to clean. Since I have my own kitchen, I am cooking a lot more and buying my own groceries - which allows me to feed them healthier foods because they are more available to me.  They are extremely happy!! They are flighted at the moment and have been enjoying their wings in the wide open spaces. I am in the middle of creating a stand for them which I will hang all their new toys from - it will be on wheels so that they can enjoy being in different rooms, especially when friends are over. Here are some pics below of their new room!

The cages are now over brown painters paper - the sheet was just temporary

Clean up recommendation

For the bottom of your bird's cage... this has been the biggest help ever to me! I saw a video of a lady using this and ever since, I have followed her advice. It has made my life A LOT easier!!!

Updated pics!

Here are some updated pics of the babes!
Charlie has a birthday coming up in November, he will be 4 years old. So handsome he is :)

Their cage setup

They love being under the blankets

I was hesitant to post pics of the birds outside without their leash - no one should let their birds outside even with clipped wings. I took them out of the Pak-o-bird for a few minutes and don't typically agree with it.

I love this photo below
